Over the last 15 years, HEAD provided upstream space products in China by introducing many space products and services from Chinese international aerospace companies. This allowed HEAD to maintain a sustainable revenue to develop diversified activities since 2017, including providing geospatial solutions based on Earth observation satellites and operating our Internet-of-Things (IoT) constellation.
COMPANY BACKGROUND
Thanks to 91 satellite-based Earth observation imagery, HEAD is a key player in the geospatial market, a prime contractor providing complex turnkey integrated geospatial solutions. The international team manages more than 125 distributors worldwide to market satellite imagery collected by Chinese commercial and government Earth Observation satellites. Our offer includes a direct receiving station for near real-time access to satellite imagery, a centralized geodata hub of satellite imagery, and process geospatial data in the country for government and commercial users.
Our geospatial solutions cover various vertical markets, including agriculture, forestry, energy, mining, environment, water, transportation, and defense. Also, it addresses horizontal needs at a city or a regional scale, such as urban planning based on up-to-date satellite imagery and intelligent city management enabled by changes detected by regular captured satellite images. By 2023, HEAD will have access to more than 130 Earth observation satellites enabling our customers to receive new images of their area of interest at very high-resolution several times per day.
EARTH OBSERVATION (EO)
Inspired by the ever-growing new opportunities offered by the low-cost small satellites, HEAD has added the Space-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) business as a new focus for the company’s future development. HEAD-1 satellite – as the demonstration mission – was successfully launched in 2017. By securing a substantial investment in 2019, HEAD has initiated the production and launch of the Skywalker Constellation, including 48 satellites with a data collection capability from ground-based terminals every hour down to a few minutes depending on latitude. The Skywalker Constellation also carries AIS, future VDES, and ADS-B payloads for global ship detection and airplane monitoring service.
HEAD-5 launched on June 16th, 2020. With the first batch of Skywalker satellites in orbit, HEAD provides data collection services at least twice per day worldwide that enable immediate access to the market. HEAD takes advantage of mature terrestrial IoT terminal development – LoRa chipset that allows access to affordable, low power-consuming, and reliable ground terminals. HEAD relies on our internal experts supported by experienced consultants integrated with our teams to secure the support of local regulatory authorities and on an expanding network of partners worldwide to deliver customized IoT communication services and solutions to local and global customers.
